Lyric Analysis for: "In this City" by Iglu and Harly

I originally heard this song with my roommate and I immediately fell in love with it. I remembered the chorus the first time and it never left my mind. I remember singing randomly and having my boyfriend look at me with a strange look on his face while I was yelling the words “IN THIS CITY”. It was so easy to listen to the chorus and immediately feel like dancing. The entire song is amazing, but the chorus in unforgettable, but I need the music or else I don’t get as pumped. The song itself speaks directly to the youth of America, that they find themselves in the places that they live. They learn not to fear anything in their city, forever claiming that part “their” city. It’s easy to see how so many people love this song, just as much as no one knows anything about this song. The best part about this song is that I can listen to it at any time of the day, or even night, and I find myself singing to it just like I did the first time I hear it. Even if I forget the song, I will never forget the lyrics and how they make me feel.

  1. Not bad, but this is still awfully general ... and not very analytical.

You could improve this essay by adding some specific examples (including an excerpt or two of the lyrics), and perhaps some information about the songwriter/musicians as it relates to the lyrics of this song.
